What ROMEO is: dating and chat, formerly PlanetRomeo
ROMEO is a dating and chat service for gay, bi and trans people that earlier ran under the names GayRomeo and PlanetRomeo. It is a dating service, not a video site: the content is member profiles, messages, photos and groups. The About page gives its own figures — 3 million members, «100K+ Online anytime», 700 million messages a month and more than 15,000 new users a day — and says a team of 70 people works in Amsterdam and Berlin. On 3 October 2026 the sign-up page showed «138,503 Online now».
Browser version and apps
The start address opens a sign-up and log-in page that works in a normal browser with JavaScript; the page states that no phone number is required and that the service runs without advertising. A comparison table on the App page says the website has more functions than the apps: groups (more than 83,000 are mentioned), picture rating and the activity stream exist on the web only. Adult photos are visible on the web; on iOS they must be enabled once in the privacy settings on romeo.com, and for Android the site offers an «Uncut Version» as a side install.
Free account versus PLUS
According to the same table, chat is unlimited for everyone. A free account is limited to 150 search results, basic filters, 200 contacts, 100 uploaded photos and one day of visitor history; PLUS removes these limits, shows visitors for a week and adds detailed filters, travel ads, hidden profile visits and an invisible online status. The public pages read on 3 October 2026 gave no PLUS price. The terms say a PLUS subscription paid by credit card renews automatically until cancelled.
Terms, age rule, operator and languages
The terms ask that every member be a real person of at least 18 and upload only content they have the right to use, including the consent of other people shown. The operator states that it does not sell member data. An account can be deactivated or deleted in the profile settings. The operator is ROMEO B.V., De Ruijterkade 7, Amsterdam.
