Our review of TunnelBear
TunnelBear: a simple VPN with a free 2 GB plan
TunnelBear is run by TunnelBear LLC from Toronto, Canada, and is known for very simple apps. At our check on 2 October 2026 its pricing page offered a free plan with 2 GB of browsing a month and the paid Unlimited plan «from $3.33 a month» in US dollars, with unlimited data and no limit on devices; the price for paying month by month was not shown on that page. The features page listed more than 8,000 servers in 46+ countries, the WireGuard, OpenVPN and IKEv2 protocols, a kill switch called VigilantBear, split tunnelling, P2P-friendly servers and GhostBear, a mode that makes VPN traffic harder to detect on networks that block VPNs. Apps exist for Windows, Mac, Android, iPhone and iPad.
Why this matters for adult-site visitors: your internet provider or a shared Wi-Fi network sees only the connection to the VPN, not which sites you open, and where adult sites are blocked a VPN may restore access — check and follow your local law. A VPN is not anonymity: the provider carries your traffic and logged-in accounts still identify you. TunnelBear says it does not log customer activity and publishes the results of annual security audits; its privacy policy explains that it only keeps the total amount of data used in the current month and resets it to zero every month.
Our rating is 3.7 out of 5: easy to use, unlimited devices and a readable privacy policy; the free plan is small, the network is mid-sized and the full monthly price and refund terms were not visible on the pages we read.
