Our review of Renta!
What Renta! is and who runs it
Renta! is an English-language store for officially translated manga that is rented or bought chapter by chapter. The About page names PAPYLESS GLOBAL, INC. of San Mateo, California, as the company, with PAPYLESS CO., LTD. in Tokyo as the parent corporation; the English service was launched in 2011. The footer carries the ABJ mark, which the site explains as the sign of an authorized distributor holding a license from the copyright holders.
The store calls itself «The Official Romance-manga Site». Its search page lists Yaoi, Mature Romance, Yuri, Explicit and Uncensored among the popular sections, next to fantasy, isekai and office-love stories. It is a romance and BL store with an explicit shelf, not a doujinshi archive.
Points, 48-hour rental and unlimited access
Titles are paid with points. The help page read on 3 October 2026 shows 500 points for $5, 1,000 for $10, 3,000 for $30 with 200 bonus points, 5,000 for $50 with 400 and 10,000 for $100 with 900. A title is rented for 48 hours or with unlimited access, and a 48-hour rental can be upgraded during the rental period; some titles offer only one of the two options.
Every title has a free preview called «Take a Peek», and the Read Free section offers whole chapters for a limited time. A balance with no purchase or use for three years is reset to zero.
Age-restricted titles and the account
Sign-up works with an e-mail address or a Facebook or X account. Content marked as unsuitable for people under 18 is hidden by default; a signed-in reader switches it on in the settings by confirming the date of birth. The help pages add that some works cannot be shown in the iOS and Android apps and have to be read in the web browser.
Things to know before paying
Accepted cards are Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, JCB, Diners Club, Maestro, UnionPay and ELO; PayPal payments are converted to Japanese yen according to the help page. The interface is in English, with a Japanese counterpart and no other languages. Deleting an account removes rented manga and all remaining points. Support works by e-mail only, and the terms place the service under California law.
